The Devil -XV


XV. The Devil card (World of Illusion, sphere: temptation)

Represents: victims approach, giving up to lower impulses and desires, losing self-control, loss of respect and love, loss of dignity. Devil symbolizes the dark sides of human nature – being in chains, addictions, lust, negative qualities prevail. Going down to the animalistic nature. It may indicate connection with dark forces and demons. Crystals: black tourmaline, obsidian. Archangel: Cassiel.  Possible meanings:

-         You fall in trap of illusions about your life; you don’t see the truth in a situation or about someone.
-        You have material addictions – alcohol, drugs, sexual
-      Be aware of your fears that hold you back from being your true self.
-         Someone around you has intention to cheat or mislead you, or to harm you.
-         You think you are controlled in this situation, but in fact you are free to remove your restrictions, as they are from limited believes of your own mind
-         Hopelessness, despair and pessimism to life, the negative forces are dominant in sub conscious level
-         You have the power to free yourself from the chains of addictions or bad thoughts, if you use your will power
-       Obsessions –anger –jealousy appear in your life – or mind pattern of a victim

-         Your materialistic and egoistic desires are holding you back 

Traditionally Devil card depicts dark image with figure of devil, in front with two figures of man and woman, chained together. That is clear representation of unhealthy attachment or obsession (to someone, something). However the devil let them to not see well the truth of their attachment and feel content with their slavery. In Doreen Virtue interpretation Devil is "Ego" and is supposed to fight against negative sides of human ego: fear, guilt, domination above others, need for power, greed. 
Spiritual message: be aware of fears and addictions that hold you back from your true self.
