About Envy - I

   This series of articles I dedicate to special negative feelings in human nature – like envy, lust, egoism, gluttony, aggression, addiction, possessiveness, jealousy. All of them have one very good point to reside in human emotions and heart – and it is to serve as lessons and be overcame. We all have need and obligation to fight with this feelings, in order to achieve expansion of mind. They are special stones on the way, that can be turned in big rocks, or little stones, or even serve as springboard on the way to success.

   I`ll speak about envy. What we call envy? What are the basic other qualities that surround the feeling of envy? What is the root of it? (from which feelings envy is brought to life?) Can envy be a “positive” feeling? What is the color in aura of feeling envy? Is it too natural for humans?

Lets begin by answering these questions.

I. Envy is a feeling residing in human society since ancient times. It comes naturally from the people living in groups, and being able to make comparison between each other. As people never are equal since they are born, between them always is space for challenge, comparison, competition. That is connected with all areas of life – as each individual has different fate, abilities, positive and negative sides, qualities and finally achievements. All that good and positive qualities are subjected to the feeling of envy. Of course we do not envy for something negative or bad in another human. The energy of envy (or also called a “bad eye” energy) is directed to something in another person, which we don’t possess, which we are missing and we want to have. Moreover envy is a hard feeling – not just outline. Envy does not have positive side, but make us think what we really want to achieve, if we are mindful enough.

Envy comes naturally with the humans living within social groups, family and institutions. Now I`ll observe the fundamental statements from the Bible, directed to envy in commandments of God of Moses: [ Deuteronomy 5:21 ]

[ “ do not covet your neighbor` s wife; do not covet your neighbor` s house, his field, his male or female slave, his ox, his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.” ] [ Complete Jewish Bible ]

      From these so simple and powerful for the ancient people commandments, we see the exact nature of envy. This example covers in first sight just the material goods, that can be subjected to desire of humans eyes. If we want to translate these simple teachings from God on moral values to symbolic language of modern times, we can say: 1. the first obligation, don’t desire the wife that belongs to someone else, and not yours. That has evolved meaning given from Jesus – keep your eyes away (don’t fall in love) for woman who is not your wife. 2. Do not desire the house, property of your someone else (that means to not desire not just to take it away or steal from it, but the meaning is exactly to not envy for that property, as this will send energy of bad eye to your neighbor. 3. his field, his male or female servant 4. his ox, his donkey;

That relates in symbolic language to the higher aspects than it can be read from the surface of the text. The first strophe is linked with the need of love. Don’t desire love, that you cant have, or which is not meant for you. That means also – keep yourself pure for your lover, wife, husband, realize the value of your own love and spouse. 2. The house and property is related to personal achievement and qualities of other person. This is also his private life, what he has in his home, that we cant see. These are qualities he has and are hidden sometimes from us. That refers to understand and value your own personal achievements, to look to your house, take care of it, and turn attention to your own personal qualities. 3. “His field, his male and female slave” – that can refer symbolically to the social life of the person and people who support him. Field is easily seen from everyone, as it is in open area, the same as female and male servants – who are the benevolent supporters, friends of the person. The bigger is his field (his social life and status), the more servants he will need (friends, people of support). 4. “his ox, his donkey” – an interesting aspect, as the animals of the neighbor are the authority and power he has. No one can succeed in ancient times to be rich without such domestic animals. Ox were signs of strength, fertility, male power, potency, prosperity, abundance. In this time this is highly important animal, that was sacrificed for Jewish God (YHWH) or worshiped in form of aspect of God power. By desiring the ox of other person, we need his qualities of power, strength, prosperity.

    Donkey was amazing ancient symbol of  devotion to work, willpower, determination, caution. Donkey, opposite of what is thought by mass culture in later time, is quite intelligent animal. The envy to these animals symbolizes the need to take the same powers and qualities of our “neighbor” or anyone. 

I. Following that examples, we can clarify what is envy: feeling of desire, need to possess certain material goods, qualities, objects or people, that belong to another person, by looking at them on the surface. We need to acquire the same things or objects for ourselves (or in some ways to steal) them from the person to whom they belong. This is my understanding about envy, and the consequences it has for individual. If we observe last part of the first sentence – “by looking at them on the surface” we will go deeper in the meaning of envy. Its important to underline –what we see, is not always what is truth. (not all that glitters is gold). This aspect of “desired gold” that is turned to “dust” is important for understanding of envy. The essence of this feeling lies in eyes, that look to another in the way of greed. That greed comes mostly from the dissatisfaction of our position (material goods, qualities, achievements) in our life.

About Sexual desire - III

   Now I concentrate on “self-control” discussion. After age of 31 is the time for humans when their aura field is build and more protected, they have understanding of freedom and limitations of Self, and they have first time the ability of “self-control”. This amazing ability makes human unique from other creatures, it can be found in many aspects of life. Unlike animal, who wants its needs to be quickly satisfied, humans start to accept and live in the chain of social rules and lows. Since early age even babies are taught to pee in toilet and remove their pampers. That simple thing is clear sign of need of self-control, that is learnt and not possessed by “nature”. The baby would love to have free satisfaction of his needs and instincts – like using toilet – but it understands gradually there are rules. These rules come from society, country, groups, family, and parents –who finally have direct obligation to teach the children.

Little children also become aware of times of the day, time for eating, time for play, time for work, for sleep.

Similarly to them, the parents also become aware of their own restricted freedom and different times in the cycle of obligations. That’s how the need of control and self-control appears.

     Without understanding the need of self-control in aspects namely of most urgent “human instincts” (hunger, thirst, sexual need), the human civilization wouldn’t be born at all. It would look like spread groups of tribes fighting together. The conflicts and problems in humanity come exactly from the different spiritual levels, which reveal existence of very low level groups of people with close to “animal instincts” for survival. For these groups world is challenging place for daily fight to survive, and the power is on the side of “stronger” physically individual.

   In such groups of lower level people, the sexual desire is clearly expressed, as all other needs, in manner of drive for satisfaction. This is how the primitive mind works. But mind of human is not designed to exist longer in this level. If that happens, these individuals would not understand the importance of rules, lows, restrictions and limitations of self, from where deformations and violent behavior will occur. That’s how acts of rape exist. And this is very clear example of human complicated psychology difference – rape is case of violent action of enforcing Self, where the right is in hands of stronger physically individual. This is act of domination and force over the weaker – appearing from inability of self-control.

When human being is in life challenging situation, he will survive with the good control of his own Self. Control of mind, emotions, feelings –leads to good control on physical body. That’s the way of expansion. If person is in the desert and struggles without water or food, he can survive because of his ability of control on mind. He will use his knowledge to try to go in right direction. The need for self-control is seen as basic aspect for spiritual development and growth. If we suffer from illness that requires to eat special kind of food or to be on diet, we restrict the food with help of our will –power. Self-control is element of that will power. So we realize we need to achieve it. The same is required in order to overcome bad habits –smoking, drinking alcohol, sexual addiction – willpower and self-control.

     From all observations we can see the bigger picture of human “sexual drive” and agree that its not a simple “animal instinct” and not instinct at all. Instincts in humans appear only in the first stage of baby – it cries from need of food, milk, water, heat, cold. Nothing more can be labeled “instinct” for humans.

The sexual drive is complicated feeling of combined emotional and psychological personal aspects and need of Self expression in puberty. It has dominant influence between ages 15 – 21. Then the individual starts to develop higher mind, together with his aura protections, realizing the ability of Self-control. In this way he becomes more powerful against the obstacles and social limitations.

    One thing I didn’t discuss here, was the importance of connection between love and "sexual desire”. We are spiritual creatures, our essence can`t be diminished only with physical existence. For that reason we need most of all to give and receive love, and our mission is not limited to increasing generations. Even in this action, we are special, as we spread love to our children, teach them our values. The sexual need in human society is not an instinct or emergency call, it is part of the long process of growing by acquiring Self-love and love to others.

For some primitive mind people, who will say “sex is like food for the human, and we cant survive without it” –I wont answer anything. Of course they wouldn’t be able to understand as they lack higher mind. But for others I would say – not at all. The useful rule to remember is – “the more you have, the bigger is your need” – the more you want. That works for all aspects of life – when you eat more and bigger portions, the more your hunger will increase. (and opposite if you eat less). The more richness and material goods you have”, the more you will want (greed). The more you indulge in sex and sensual games, the more you will desire to continue. That feeling will increase more and more – as it reaches “insatiability” or place of mind that this hunger cant be satisfied. That’s the nature of human with deformations of visible world. That’s the creating of darkness. Only in humans exist the sacred link between soul-spirit –body and the feeling of love within the sexual intercourse. In this only way the divine spark will spread and evolve in the humans, and make his act “mystical” or connected with higher levels. Such acts of course are not rule, even rarely to find in the human existence on this mind level (of majority groups). But this will change in the far future of earth.

In the end I want to conclude – people don’t have sexual instincts, but complicated evolving realization of sexual desire in different ages. Their sub-conscious aim (as socially accepted) is not to assure and produce the newer “generations” or humanity bloodline, existence of their offspring. They don’t have such desire inside their genetic codes. The aim of humans is to accomplish their missions of spreading love and care for others (including their children and parents), and their own spiritual development.
